Cate Square Master Plan

The City of Hammond's Downtown Development District retained Dufreche-Perkins & Associates to develop a master plan for the redevelopment of Cate Square, a city block sized park serving as a recreational space for the citizens of Hammond. Charles Emory Cate's century old former home site was a public park in need of renovation. The park features a playground, pavilion and open space along with many monuments and statues. The new master plan focused on upgrading and enhancing the park amenities, a new layout, and a reorganization of many park features. Our master plan features an elliptical lawn area anchored by a pavilion at the northeast corner of the park. The southwest corner features a new playground and a memorial plaza. Phase One (including new drainage, irrigation, sidewalks, play equipment and lighting.) was completed in June of 2007.
