Louisiana State University Law Center Sculpture Park

Several years ago, Dufreche-Perkins and Associates were approached by the Dean of the Paul M. Hebert LSU School of Law, and were retained to update the building's 1960's-era entry plaza.  In collaboration with Sculptor Steve Gibson, our task was to create a new entry plaza for the law school building.

The plaza now features a life-sized bronze sculpture of well known Louisiana Senator Russell Long. The new plaza also features a tree grove, fountain, and seating for students and visitors. The sculpture is seated at the fountain, in front of a water-wall inscribed with Senator Long's contribution to the Center. 3-D modeling was used to provide accurate representations of the Plaza area's proportions, prior to creating formal Construction Documents. The simple lines of the existing adjacent building were a strong influence on the Plaza's straightforward layout.
